Tex Walker came from Broken Hill football royalty. His father Wayne played more than 350 games in the far west and, whilst still at Willyama High School, Tex started training hard and became Centreman for the Broken Hill Centrals.

Walker received a NSW Scholarship contract with Adelaide Football Club aged 16, whilst still playing local amateur league for North Broken Hill as centre half-forward. In 2007, North took home the Broken Hill Football League premiership with a seven-goal win.

After kicking more than 50 goals in the 2008 season, Walker made his AFL debut with the Adelaide Crows against Collingwood, where he continued to hold his place. He then kicked five goals against the reigning premier team, earning a nomination as an AFL Rising Star. In 2011 he was ranked 12th in AFL, still playing for the Crows. He captained the team from 2015-2019

When Tex Walker kicked his 441st goal in September 2020, he became Adelaide’s leading goal-kicker. Tex played his 250th game for the Adelaide Crows in June 2023. He kicked an incredible 10 goals, to the delight of his adoring fans.
